Are you having trouble upgrading Intel firmware on a PowerEdge server using a DUP? If so, keep reading.
The Intel firmware DUP (Dell Update Package) v13.5.6 fails to update firmware from v13.5.2 when run via local GUI or remotely, using Lifecycle Controller.
See more about Lifecycle Controller (LC), here.
This problem will occur with any version of the LC and with all 12G blade and rack mount servers.

The reason behind it? This Intel firmware DUP package does not support Firmware Management Protocol and will not work in UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) environments.
The solution is to upgrade the firmware DUP using the OS .
How do I tell if my server has one of these Intel cards using Lifecycle Controller? See this blog.
