While the calendar might say we’re already into February, we’re just beginning a new fiscal year at Dell Software. This is the perfect opportunity to look ahead at the great year we are planning for our SharePoint solutions!
Transformation seems to be the name of the game in SharePoint. No longer is this a platform stood up under someone’s desk because they received free licenses and thought they’d try it out. SharePoint has moved out of its infancy and into maturation with improved capabilities around content collaboration, social communications and application development. According to Microsoft’s Bill Baer, senior product manager on the SharePoint team, in his October 2013 post entitled “SharePoint for the enterprise on-premises, Online, and everything in between”:
- SharePoint supports 2 out of 3 information workers in the enterprise
- More than 700,000 developers are building on SharePoint and Office
- Microsoft is expanding its Office/SharePoint App Store, extending opportunities for code-free customization to everyone in the organization, not just developers
Just as SharePoint has matured in the market, it has also matured inside Dell. As a reflection of the importance of SharePoint to the overall Dell Software Windows business, it is now a formal part of the broader offering. No longer are organizations just using SharePoint and just needing SharePoint-only solutions. Folks are moving to adopt a complete Windows platform that includes SharePoint, Exchange, Active Directory and Lync. They are seeking a provider who can bring offerings to support their entire investment and no longer looking to one-trick pony vendors.
SharePoint is a major pillar of Dell Software’s Windows management offering. We’re excited to be moving with the market by delivering and investing heavily in our award-winning SharePoint products as part of a complete Windows migration, code-free customization and management offering. Here’s just a sampling of our investment in SharePoint and our forward-looking optimism for this technology as part of Dell’s broader Windows portfolio:
- Dell Software is excited for this year’s planned releases around a complete suite of SharePoint solutions for migration, code-free customization and management, and so are our customers who have love to talk about our solutions. Here’s just a few examples:
- Quick Apps for SharePoint customer testimonials
- Site Administrator for SharePoint customer testimonials
- Dell Software SharePoint solutions took gold, silver and bronze in the recent 2013 Windows IT Pro awards, including Best SharePoint Product
- Dell Software was honored as Microsoft’s first-everOffice/SharePoint App Developer Partner of the Year at the 2013 Worldwide Partner Conference with the release of Dell Social Hub
- Dell Software is investing in market research to ensure we’re at the forefront of SharePoint’s transformation (like this one from November 2013 on customization and this one from January 2014 on security and social adoption)
- Dell Software is once again a premier sponsor at the SharePoint Conference 2014 in Las Vegas this March as we have been at every SharePoint Conference since its start in 2006 (stay tuned for more from Susan Roper on what we have planned at this year’s event)
Just as organizations seek to transform their SharePoint into the business-critical platform their company and their users need, Dell Software for SharePoint is meeting the market where it’s at with a transformative SharePoint and Windows offering.
