Follow up: Ubuntu on Dell 12G PowerEdge Servers

My colleague Jordan Hargrave previously blogged about issues with the acpi_pad, sb_edac, i7core_edac, and mei drivers in the kernel used by Ubuntu 12.04. The acpi_pad, sb_edac and i7core_edac issues are now resolved in stable release update (SRU) kernels for Ubuntu 12.04. The mei driver bug will soon be fixed in an SRU kernel for Ubuntu 12.04. More details on where these bugs were fixed are below.

acpi_pad: This bug is fixed in 3.2.0-28.44 (Ubuntu 12.04 SRU kernel) and is tracked in Launchpad bug #1035216. The patch was written by Stuart Hayes of Dell Linux Engineering (https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1133941/).

sb_edac and i7core_edac: Fixed in 3.2.0-28.44 (Ubuntu 12.04 SRU kernel) and tracked in Launchpad bug #1007061. The patch was written by Chen Gong of Intel (https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/5/8/62).

mei: This bug is fixed in precise-proposed  and soon with be provided an Ubuntu 12.04 SRU kernel (3.2.0-31.50). It is tracked in Launchpad bug #1041164. The patch was written by Tomas Winkler of Intel (https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1278631/).

All these fixes will be available in Ubuntu 12.10 when it is released.
