Networking:
- Mellanox 40G Ethernet controller support is added in RHEL 6.5
- Mellanox ConnectX-3 Dual Port 40 GbE QSFP+ Network Adapter is supported by the driver mlx4 (en, core) has latest driver version with RHEL6.5.
- Dell PowerEdge 12th Generation server R720, R720XD, M620, T620, R820, R620 supported with this Mellanox devices.
- Full support for Precision Time Protocol (PTP) IEEE 1588
- PPoE support in NetworkManager
- Support for Single Root I/O virtualization (SR-IOV) has been added to the qlcnic driver as a Technology Preview.
Storage:
- Increased support for PCIe SSD (Solid State Drive) storage. Dell PowerEdge 12th Generation server ships with PCI-e SSD devices
- LVM support for (non-clustered) thinly-provisioned snapshots, previously available as a Technology Preview, is now fully supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5
- The NVMe driver has been added to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5
Virtualization:
- vCPU hotplug for Linux guests
- Improved random number generation in guests that allow for greater security.
- Increase in maximum supported memory for KVM guests.
